Easy Crochet Basket

I've always wanted to make things I could use around the house.

And I'm currently obsessed with cotton yarn.
It's the perfect option for baskets. Easy to work with and sturdy.
This basket is very easy to make and an awesome beginner project!

OTH Crochet Nook Pattern: Easy Crochet Basket

Use 2 strands
Ch 4, join with slip stich in first chain, ch 1
Step 1: sc 7 inside circle, sl st in first sc to join
Your first round is now complete
Step 2: Ch 2, 2sc in each stitch all the way around, sl st to join (14)
Step 3: Ch 2,* 2sc in first stitch, sc 1 in the next*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
Step 4: Ch 2, *2sc in first stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
*stop here, for small basket size, and skip to step 9*
Step 5: Ch 2, *2sc in first stitch, sc in the next 3 stitches*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
Step 6: Ch 2, *2sc in first stitch, sc in the next 4 stitches*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
*stop here, for medium basket size, and skip to step 9*
Step 7: Ch 2, *2sc in first stitch, sc in the next 5 stitches*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
Step 8: Ch 2, *2sc in first stitch, sc in the next 6 stitches*, repeat all the way around, sl st to join
*at this point, this will make a large basket size - if you would like it larger, keep increasing until you are happy with the size of the base*
Step 9: Ch 1, sc in BLO all the way around, sl st to join
Step 10: Ch 1, sc all the way around until desired height is reached
Sl st  to join and finish off
Weave in ends.

If you would like to add handles:
The handle will take up 4 rounds, so you must decide the height of your basket and start the handles 4 rows BEFORE you finish off

Handles:
Step 1: ch 10 and skip 9, sc in the 10th stitch, continue around until your first handle is parallel to the one you are about to create, ch 10, skip 9, sc in the next, sc all the way around to finish off the round, sl st to join
Step 2: ch 1, sc all the way around, twice
Sl st to join, finish off
weave in ends

Easy Chevron Blanket

If you have never made a chevron blanket before, you will be addicted after you try!
It looks lovely, it's timeless, and guess what??....so easy!

Grab a big hook, size 9 or 10 will do.
Use chunky yarn or 2 or 3 strands at the same time, like my picture above.

And you're ready!

The easiest (and free) chevron blanket pattern that I have bookmarked for years is from Melanie K Ham.

Hello #1

My first blog.
My first thoughts on my granny hobby.
My first step in sharing fun and easy crochet projects with you.
When I think about what I love about this massive community of makers all over the world, we all have one thing in common.  We want to MAKE….all the time.
So this is my purpose here.
When you visit OTH Crochet Nook, it will be a little corner you go to to find your next project, or learn tips and tricks that will help you expand all you can do with your hook.
I’m definitely better than when I started crocheting in 2014.  But I’m still learning everyday.
So let’s do this together!
In my nook,
April
