DIY Granny Square Bag

Made with Just 4 Squares!

Looking for your next crochet project that’s trendy, easy, and super fun to make? Say hello to the 4-Square Granny Bag! In my latest YouTube video, I’ll show you step-by-step how to turn just four simple granny squares into a gorgeous bag you’ll actually want to carry everywhere.

Watch the full tutorial here: DIY Granny Square Bag – Step by Step

This Project:

Beginner-friendly: If you can make a granny square, you can make this bag.
Only 4 squares!: That’s right, you don’t need a ton of crochet work to get a finished, stylish piece.
Eco-friendly & customizable: Use yarn from your stash and re-purpose an old purse handle, or crochet your own handle for a totally handmade look.
Stylish & functional: Granny square fashion is everywhere right now, and this bag is the perfect way to join the trend.

What You’ll Need

  • 4 granny squares (pattern linked below)

  • A purse handle – thrift one from an unused bag or add a handle you crochet yourself

  • Yarn needle & scissors

  • Basic crochet skills (chains + double crochet = you’re ready!)

The magic of this project is how simple the assembly is. In the video, I walk you through:

  1. Making your 4 squares (a quick and fun stash buster!)

  2. Laying them out in the right shape for the bag

  3. Sewing or crocheting the squares together

  4. Attaching your thrifted (or handmade) handle

And just like that, you’ve got a trendy little bag that looks way more complicated than it really is!
