Selfish KNIT Cardi

This past Summer, I snuck in a chunky cozy knit cardigan.
And I've only been able to enjoy it this past week!

I’m a huge fan of Sugarbush…and their CHILL yarn is to die for.
It’s super bulky and super soft.
100% Merino Wool... #obsessed

And there are way too many gorgeous colours to choose from.
Here are a few:

I’m definitely more in love with crochet…but grabbing my knitting needles
a few times a year, keeps me on my toes.

This cardigan is VERY easy.
It’s made up of 5 panels: back x 1, sleeves x 2, front panel x 2 – that’s it!
Seam them together and you have the easiest, and chunkiest cardigan ever!

Again, I wouldn’t consider myself a knitter, so I use the most basic stitches….which is why…if you’ve never knit a garment….you can absolutely do this one!

I recently posted my crochet Selfish Cardi that I made last Winter….so this is my version of the Selfish KNIT Cardi….it’s okay to make things for yourself, so go ahead….be selfish.

Important Notes before you begin:

-It’s important to do a gauge swatch before you begin – this will determine the exact size you need and the exact number to cast on
-I've included sizes SMALL, MEDIUM, and LARGE below - if you need to make it smaller: cast on less, if you need to make it bigger: cast on more.

-You will need to know how to: CAST ON, KNIT STITCH, PURL STITCH, and BIND OFF.

Here is the Selfish Knit Cardi!

OTH Crochet Nook Pattern: Selfish Knit Cardi

US 15/10mm straight or circular needles

-chunky, weight 5 or 6

-Recommend: Sugarbush Chill ( I used colourway: Mountie Mango)
- I used approx. 5 balls (I made a small)

4 x 4” square= 12 rows by 9 stitches

(what this means: 4 inches wide will be 9 stitches across

and 4 inches length will be 12 rows high)

What you will be making:

1 x Square panel for back
2 x panels for sleeves
2 x panels for front
*these will all be seamed together

CO = Cast On
RS = Right Side
WS = Wrong Side
STS = stitches
K2TOG = Knit 2 Together* (*optional)

Back Panel:
CO 42 (48, 54) sts.

Row 1 (RS): Knit

Row 2 (WS): Purl

*repeat row 1 and 2 until you’ve reached desired length, I completed 64 rows

Bind off.

Front Panels: make 2

CO 20 (22, 24) sts.

Row 1 (RS): Knit

Row 2 (WS): Purl
*repeat row 1 and 2 until you’ve reached desired length, I completed 64 rows

Bind off.

Sleeves: make 2:
CO 28 (32, 36) sts.

Row 1 (RS): Knit

Row 2 (WS): Purl
*repeat row 1 and 2 until you’ve reached desired length, I completed 64 rows

(you can "k2tog" at the beginning and ends of your last few rows if you'd like - this would be for under the armpit)

Bind off.

Seam Together:
-Lay each piece flat like the picture below
-Seam together
-Seam the shoulders and sleeves to the body

Note: when seaming the shoulders to the front panels, leave an inch or so unattached so it will fit nicely around your neck

And that's it!
